Different areas of the brain perform different functions from directing movement, to thinking, to feeling, to remembering including many sub-regions within those areas that relate to more specialized activities. Flute Lessons

Private Studio - Greensboro
Middle and high school students from my home studio have successfully auditioned into All-District, All-State, Tanglewood, the Eastern Music Festival, and Schools of Music throughout the United States. In the 2008-2009 academic year all of the Guilford County flutes who auditioned into the All-District Band were from my studio. Additionally, students auditioned into the Greensboro Youth Symphony, All-State band, the Carolina Band Festival, and two students won places through taped competition into the National Flute Association High School Flute Choir perform ing in New York at the 2009 annual NFA Convention. Private lessons are available through my home studio in Greensboro. Space is limited and students must be prepared to dedicate consistent time for practicing. Lessons are available in 30, 45, or 60 minute time slots and are arranged into 15 lessons per semester.

Flute Study at Radford University
The flute studio at RU averages about 10-12 students majoring in music with a variety of degree options including the BA, BM and MA, with focus tracks in performance, music education, music therapy, and music business. In addition to applied study, there is a flute choir and several large ensembles, recitals, and chamber ensembles available for performance opportunities. Music Minors are also able to participate in applied study and may audition for ensembles. In November 2008 the university opened its new Covington Arts Center with a stunning recital hall and excellent rehearsal facilities for all ensembles. Radford University is a part of the Virginia state system and is located about 40 minutes south of Roanoke off I-85. www.radford.edu
